Upstate Caring Partners grought their second annual Fashion Show to The Root Farm on Friday, June 5th, 2026, where over 50 models had the chance to experience the glitz and glamour of the runway. Upstate Caring Partners is collaborated with other local agencies, The ARC Oneida-Lewis Chapter, and Sitrin, to offer this unique opportunity for self-expression to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities who receive services.
At last year’s inaugural event, participants got to experience what it’s like to walk the runway with style. The large audience in attendance were vocal in their support, encouraging this creative outlet for self-expression. The fashion show is an excellent reminder on the importance of activities that build confidence, as well as the necessity for acceptance and inclusion in such spaces.
“This isn’t just a fashion show; it’s a celebration of confidence, individuality, and strength,” says Stephanie Sullivan, Director of Community Services for Upstate Caring Partners. “Our models light up the runway with a sense of pride, and sense of self, that is truly inspiring. It’s about empowering people to embrace who they are, to feel seen and valued, and to walk with confidence both on and off the stage.”
“I’m so excited! Being in the fashion show makes me happy,” says Ashley Armstrong, one of this year’s participants in the fashion show. “I feel beautiful with my hair and makeup done.”
