Vibrant hues of green and pink accompanied giant handmade poppy flowers throughout The Root Farm in Sauquoit on Friday, May 29, 2026, when students from Upstate Caring Partners’ Tradewinds Education Center celebrated their prom night with a theme from the popular film series, Wicked.
The joy was contagious as Tradewinds students walked the red carpet with the support of family, staff, and peers, breaking through the curtain to a room full of smiling spectators. Everyone was dressed their best while keeping comfortable and true to their own individual style. Proud parents and family members snapped photos as their loved ones made their grand entrance into the transformed riding arena at The Root Farm, marking the start of an unforgettable, magical evening.
The Wicked movies share ideas of defying expectations and embracing the qualities that make a person unique. These are themes and ideas that couple perfectly with Tradewinds Education Center, as each individual is recognized and honored for their individuality as they pursue life skills that help foster a sense of independence.
Attendees enjoyed food from Nina’s Kitchen and Tony’s Pizzeria & Sports Bar Washington Mills, while DJ Dave provided the soundtrack that had everyone’s feet defying gravity. The atmosphere was electric as Tradewinds students danced the night away.
