Upstate Caring Partners is excited to offer a cutting-edge summer externship experience for undergraduate students eager to explore career opportunities within the field of intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Externship openings are available in our school-age, adult, and preschool programs. This externship is ideal for students intending on pursuing careers and possibly advancing education in the fields of applied behavior analysis, psychology, social work, medicine, teaching, and/or therapy. Undergraduate externs will gain exposure to professional skills, activities, and evidence-based practices used for the education and treatment of children and adults with complex developmental disabilities and co-occurring psychiatric, medical, dietary, motoric, and sleep disorders. The externship runs from May 20, 2024 – August 16, 2024. While funding for these positions are not guaranteed, since the development of the externship we have been able to offer these as paid positions. Applicants will be notified of the funding status during the interview process.
