Utica – The New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH) and the Office of Addiction Supports and Services (OASAS) have announced the selection of Community Health and Behavioral Services, a division of Upstate Caring Partners (UCP), as one of seven upstate New York recipients of start-up funding to become a NYS Designated Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC), extending this transformative opportunity to the Mohawk Valley Region.
This project will move Community Health and Behavioral Services forward in their integrated Behavioral Health System of Care model, which is built off of the federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) CCBHC model grant award the agency began to implement in 2020.
Of the thirteen awards distributed statewide, this opportunity to become a CCBHC holds unique significance as it addresses the critical needs of Oneida County, identified as a “High Needs County” in the Mohawk Valley Region. Essential services in such areas are foundational to the success of the CCBHC model developed by UCP over the past three years.
“The services we offer are an integral to the CCBHC model we’ve worked to implement in the last few years,” noted Jenni Barlow-Gagnon, Executive Vice President of Behavioral Health Services at UCP. “This will align with our integrated model, allowing individuals accessing services at Community Health Behavioral Services at UCP to benefit fully from our comprehensive care approach.”

Community Health and Behavioral Services offers comprehensive assistance to people of all ages in need of behavioral health support in areas such as individualized counseling, psychiatric services, specialized group therapy, peer support specialists, relationship counseling, play therapy, behavioral health navigation, and substance use disorder services.
