Caring for a family member with a disability can often be challenging. Having an outlet to share feelings, concerns and ask questions is extremely valuable and comforting to many families. Upstate Cerebral Palsy and the Kelberman Center offer groups to help people, family members and caregivers receive support from qualified professional staff as well as the opportunity to meet other families in the area. Please check below for an ongoing list of support group options.
The Autism Support Group provides an opportunity for people and to meet on a regular basis to explore and discuss issues related to autism. Facilitated by a Kelberman Center Family Services Specialist, the group meets monthly and is open to all members of the community affected by autism spectrum disorder. For information on support groups contact Leslie Stephens, at (315) 797-6241 ext. 372 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Mohawk Valley Down Syndrome Support and Awareness Group was formed by Upstate Cerebral Palsy to offer a forum for area families to share strategies for success and to learn from each other as they face the challenges of Down syndrome. The group meets periodically to discuss various topics and to network and share common experiences. For more information, please contact Upstate Cerebral Palsy at (315) 724-6907, ext. 2279.
