Studio Art

The Studio Art Learning Program offers art projects and classes for people of all artistic abilities.  Artists learn and explore a variety of art methods and mediums, including Silk Art, Hands in the Clay and open studio painting sessions.

Studio Art allows artists to experience working with clay, creating pottery pieces, learning the process of wheel throwing on floor model pottery wheels and a wheelchair accessible pottery wheel and hand building. Silk Art allows a free movement of painting on silk scarves, ties and wall hanging pieces with the use of silk dyes and paints, along with silk salt for specials effects.

Silk Art: Artists create a totally unique scarf or tie. Each scarf is hand painted with silk dye and participants choose complementing colors and unique patterns for each scarf or tie.

Hands in the Clay: Artists explore a variety of hand building skills such as coiling, pinching and slab construction, as well as pottery wheel - pot making and collaborative clay sculptures.

Clay and silk art items are for sale at our art events held throughout the year or by calling us. Scarves and ties can also be purchased from Scandinavian Design in New Hartford.
