Ribbon Cutting Ceremony Celebrates the Grand Opening of the Giotto Center

Upstate Caring Partners celebrated the official opening of the Giotto Center’s Community Health and Behavioral Services located on 1002 Oswego Street in Utica, NY on Thursday, May 18, 2023.

The Center provides counseling, psychiatric services, group therapy, play therapy, crisis and peer supports, and additional recovery services. Staff offer comprehensive assistance to people of all ages in need of behavioral health support.

“Previously our behavioral health services were delivered in three disparate locations within the Utica community,” explained Executive Director, Geno DeCondo. “As we have seen the need for our services grow, it became apparent that we could deliver care more effectively and efficiently by bringing all of our clinicians and supporting staff under one roof in the form of a system of care. We are genuinely appreciative of the naming gift that the Giotto family has made in support of Community Health and Behavioral Services. They have been a strong supporter of the agency for over 30 years and they are committed to helping to improve our community.”

In collaboration with Upstate Family Health Center, the Giotto Center is now conveniently co-located with primary care and a pharmacy and is also supported by care management from Central New York Health Home Network.

Key government partners who supported the development of the Giotto Center include Oneida County and the City of Utica.  Services provided at the center are regulated by the New York State Office of Mental Health and Office of Addiction Supports and Services.

Additional supporters include The Community Foundation of Herkimer and Oneida Counties, Mother Cabrini Foundation through a grant facilitated by Central New York Health Home Network, and Gilroy, Kernan, and Gilroy.

Oneida County Executive, Anthony J. Picente Jr. was in attendance and made remarks about the new public health kiosk located at the new facility.

“Oneida’s County’s long-standing partnership with Upstate Caring Partners has provided critical services and support to our residents,” said Oneida County Executive Anthony J. Picente Jr. “The opening of the new Giotto Center will enable us to improve upon our capabilities, and I thank the Giotto family for this investment in our community. I also want to thank ACR Health and Community Health and Behavioral Services for their partnership in bringing a first-in-the-nation SMRT1 Technology Public Health Kiosk with an interactive dispensing system to this site. It will provide free, anonymous, 24/7 access to harm reduction resources including Naloxone, fentanyl test strips and wellness supplies such as COVID-19 test kits to those in need.”
